How We Make Money

Precision Ammo is a free, independent site. We pay the bills through affiliate commissions — when you click a retailer link on our site and buy ammo, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This page explains exactly how that works and what it changes (and doesn't change) about what you see here.
Who we earn from
We participate in affiliate programs with the following retailers:
- Brownells
- Natchez Shooters Supplies
- Sportsman's Warehouse
- Sportsman's Guide
- Palmetto State Armory
- Midway USA
- Primary Arms
- Impact Guns
Most of these are served through the AvantLink affiliate network. Impact Guns is served through Commission Junction (CJ). When you click one of our retailer links, you're handed off to that network's tracker before arriving at the retailer's site, which is how the sale gets attributed to us.
What the disclosure does NOT change
Commissions do not influence our cost-per-round rankings. Here's the mechanical reason why:
- CPR is math, not opinion. Cost-per-round is price divided by rounds. We pull that data from retailer feeds and compute it the same way for every listing. There is no editorial slider.
- The cheapest listing wins.Our default sort surfaces the lowest CPR available, regardless of which retailer is paying us more. If a retailer we don't earn from is cheaper, they still show up — we just can't link out to them with an affiliate tracker.
- Commission rates don't change order. Two retailers paying us different rates on the same product will still be ranked by price, not by payout.
What the disclosure DOES change
When both a partner retailer and a non-partner retailer carry the same ammo at the same price, we'll link to the partner. That's the only tie-breaker commissions buy. The price you pay is identical either way.
About the price data
Retailer prices and stock status are pulled from feeds on a schedule and cached. They may be out of date by the time you click. Always confirm the final price and availability on the retailer's own product page before you buy. If you see a price on Precision Ammo that doesn't match the retailer's site, trust the retailer.
